Following the departure of our Super coach, Jamie Robertson, with an unbelievable 5 premierships under her belt, we had a big task to fill the position of coach, and were conscious of the big shoes to fill following her departure. So, after an extensive recruitment campaign, we’ve secured an amazing coach for our 2010 season!
Full detail to be released soon, but some credentials of the new coach include: fantastic vision and knowledge for modern running game & great ability to communicate game tactics and skills with players of all levels; extremely passionate to see the Women’s footy league advance to gain general public acknowledgement; coached u18’s team and assisted with senior’s men’s teams; most recently coached u16 youth team to Premiership; coached all levels of junior footy leagues; mentor to all the coaches of the whole junior’s club; Sydney’s talent scout for Fremantle Dockers AFL team; with Fremantle Dockers coaching team such that he receives all their training drills and knowledge; unparalleled off field achievements in building a struggling juniors club into the best resourced and financially secure club of the league, during his presidency; direct ties with Kevin Sheedy and is a mad Essendon supporter.

The coach will start training with us after this weekend’s training run, but will be popping past during our session this Sunday to have a quick look and introduce himself, so make sure you’re there to meet the new coach! Also, he’s already set us our first task… to go to the Sydney Swans vs Carlton NAB CUP match on Saturday 20 Feb at Blacktown, 7.40pm, where we’ll all sit together (on the old-skool hill) and discuss footy team set-ups, and tactics employed by those 2 elite teams. So, get your tickets to this game (only $16) from http://www.rootyhillrsl.com.au/ . The more people we get to this event, the more benefit to our season, and your personal understanding of the game, so get your tickets now! Also… Chris Judd is playing!

Congratulations to Natasha Devlin who takes the reins of the Breakaways as President.
She has played an instrumental role in 2009 on and off the field and we look forward to her contibution as President in 2010
